Alec Crichton (GB) is artist and curator based in Cologne (Germany). He is curator and partner of the art TV Station Souvenirs from Earth TV.
"Most stunning works of art allow us to perceive them on different levels; they are UNFAMILIAR to our eyes, INSPIRING to our hearts, CHALLENGING to our minds and RELEVANT to the world, our time and our culture. The more you are able to embrace a work of art on aesthetic, emotional AND rational levels, the more interesting it gets." --Alec Crichton
The video album Eremozoikum summarizes 9 video works by Alec Crichton from the years 2003-2006. It was inspired by Biologist Edward O. Wilson who introduced the term Eremozoic age, an era of solitude in a biologically impoverished world, ripped from its natural diversity. Even if we constantly reduce our natural environment, even if human activities wipe out half of all plants and animals on Earth, we will of course still survive in such a poorer fauna and flora. The loss of natural diversity with all its wealth and know how, is economically desastrous, but the extinction of species and cultivation of all natural ressources is also a spiritual impoverishment, depriving us from the living beauty and inspiration lying within it.
