Chapter I The Discovery
Nihil Ex Nihilo

Félix Luque Sánchez (Oviedo 1976) works in the field of new media art. He is also engaged with sound design and the development of customized technologies, electronics and software, for artists and art institutions.

“Playing with the statement that “new media art” has significant connection to the popular culture of science fiction, my works focus on machine intelligence and themes typical of science fiction. Science fiction appears to be a perfect framework for art expression with new technologies, for it precisely questions the role of science and technology in the definition of the human. For me, Science Fiction mirrors our reality in the same way as reality mirrors Science Fiction. As such, the relationship is confusing, with one continually projecting onto the other. I observe that media and scientist discourses mix fiction and reality, erasing objective boundaries between them. The result is a constant speculation of our future.” -- Félix Luque Sanchez

Chapter I: The Discovery (2009) In the installation “Chapter I: The Discovery” the visitor discovers a sci-fi geometric object that outputs a code of light and sounds. This work questions the viewers perception about the truthfulness of what is shown, outlining a journey from the initial visioning of a series of videos with synthetic images and ending up in an encounter with a physical interactive object which co-opts information flows, sound and light transmission. 3D ANIMATION Iñigo Bilbao Lopategui DESIGN & DISPLAY Damien Gernay www.dustdeluxe.com DOCUMENTATION Nicolas Torres & Guillaume Vandenbeghen
