Manuel Saiz is a London based visual artist. Since the middle eighties he has been showing sculptures, photographic prints and videos in art galleries and museums world wide. Since 1995 he works mainly in video and video installations.

"The majority of my work reflects upon the relationship between Technology and Humankind, and in particular the impact of digital technologies on contemporary society. New events just happen in the edge of the technological civilization and only new language techniques can give account of them. From an art context this subject should be approached through the means by which the mechanics of society are structured, said language applications, economic networks and social psychology." --Manuel Saiz

Buffer The term buffer is used in computer technology to define a space of memory in which the information is stored in preparation for process or transfer. The buffer receives the information in a disorganized and abrupt manner and delivers it regularly in packets adequate for further manipulation. The work Buffer was created for Matadero Madrid, produced by Area de Las Artes del Ayuntamiento de Madrid and consists in a video projection and an architectural sculpture.

Parallel Paradises Japan (2006) Rin and Mai are two dancers of parapara, a disco dance trend popular in Japan. Their perfectly synchronized movements have a very precise pace and protocol, like they were speaking an unknown language. They perform in the forest, where their figure and attitude results heterogeneous to the organic movement the nature around them. Both worlds exist complete in the same space but do not touch each other.

Parallel Paradises Ecuador(2007) The interaction between the lama, who belongs to the land of moors, with the supermarket is perturbing. She wanders lost in the codified landscape, far of any understanding of what humans have put there. In the video foreground and background belong to different universes.
