Supper

Anja Ronacher (Austria 1979) lives and works in Vienna. She studied Scenography at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Photography at the Estonian Academy of Arts and completed her Master's (Photography) in 2008 at the Royal College of Art in London.

“My work lies at the meeting points of visual arts, theatre and dance. I develop choreographies from minimal everyday movements that are placed in reduced and clinical spaces. I use strategies of theatrical stage direction and employ them within the cinematic and photographic. The muted protagonists are immersed in task like activities. Through repetition those activities become undisclosed rituals within a space that represents time as being absent.“ --Anja Ronacher

Supper (2008) The initial for Supper is the idea of a marionette-like sculpture affiliated with an everyday ritual. The work emerged from an interest in the minor absurdities of the everyday. Supper is placed within the thin boundary of the uncanny and the familiar. Repetition and gesture become the poetic potentials that hold the tension of the said and the unsayable. Speech is hindered and bodily functions are disabled. CAST Sophie Barthel & Tzvetomir Lazarov LIGHTNING George Duck TECHNICAL SUPPORT Roddy Canas
